Endelig nokka nytt/ Finally some FOs

Some FOs at last. The stiches in the scarf look greate, - on both sides actually. here is where I found the scarf and the pattern. At least this is her blog, you probably have to look far back :)

No ska æ prøve å skrive teksten først, deretter sette inn bildan. Streve veldig med redigering og lay-out. Æ har samla de siste ferdigstilte produktan; det varierer fra festing av tråda på vottan, hekling av hempe på klutan og strikking av de siste omgangan på skjerfet. Garnet e endelig brukt opp og skjerfet e nok mer enn langt nok.

Første stopp kommer seinere. I visited 5 LYS in Seattle, meaning, local yarn shops. Mostly I used my bike. It was great fun

Try it...

Instead of doing what I'm supposed to; doing a bit of translation for my husband, I found this interesting "game", which I just have to try. I found it here. Actually it took too much time, I have to complete it later on. To be quite honest I didn't quite understand the process, but I fancied the idea and the outcome. Have to be more patient an other time.

Pictures!

Today the weather was perfect according to my plans; cold and cloudy. I was going to upload all my pictures and blog. But you know what? The cable which I needed was missing, the one I need to connect my camera to the pc. Just my luck! And where had it gone do you think? Probably with my husband to work J

Knitting, no!

It seems to be no time to knitting and blogging. The weather in Seattle is excellent, I use my borrowed bike every day. I've nearly been all over the place ;), I've taken a lot of pics as well, but I don't want to spend too much time inside, so I'll load the photos later.

I have visited three local yarn shops already, and I have taken their picture. Our visit to Ballard was mainly to visit The Nordic Heritage Museum, and there I bought a beautiful book about Latvian mittens, but I didn't realise until later that I could have found another LYS over there; The Full Circle.

Vacation has started

Arrived in Seattle yesterday afternoon, after 9 hours on board a plane, one hour sleep and trying to forget that it was turning into night, Norwegian time. We had dinner at five in the morning (Norwegian time), did some shopping and went to bed. I woke up at 3.20 (Am. time) and believed it was morning, stayed in bed until 6.30, went back to sleep again, managed to get some more sleep and was awake at a 7.45. This is not the usual me!!!!

We stay in the University District, at Chambered Nautilus. We love it here. I will post pics later. Through Ravelry I've found some yarn shops in my neighbourhood and I've already visited Acorn Street Shop. I bought some Noro yarn, bamboo needles and a magazine, Noro Joy.

The pictures in this entry were taken 5 years ago, when the camera was new, and we weren't familiar with the use of it!

This is quite an experiment, trying to use this feature in Microsoft word 2007. I'll just figure out how this works.

Paris Sights

Damene på tur! Paris passa oss utmerka. Vi hadde nydelig storbyvær, - mellom 22 og 28 grader, mest overskya. Vi gikk og gikk, så og så med mange hvitvin og rosevinspauser. Vi bodde sentarlt, midt i et yrende Latinerkvartal. Adressen til utleier finner du her.

Visiting Paris in late June with lady friends, we did a lot of walking, wine drinking and exploring. The weather was pleasant for northern tourists.

We stayed in the middle of the Latin quarter, a perfect location. Link to the flat is here.

Mandela tribute concert

I dag i isekaldt vær va det en fantastisk konsert på torget i Tromsø; Forsvarets musikk-korps og Tromsø symfoniorkester pluss kor beståanes av Mime og eleva fra Kongsbakken. Det varma i den iskalde nordatrekken.

Paradoxical Mittens once again

Nearly finished, securing ends of yarn remains doing, - boring! I bought the pattern on-line on this address.

Knitting, finally!

Some spare time for my knitting as well, but mostly the weekend was spent on gardening and maintenance.

My first attempt on a top down raglan construction and I like it a lot. The pattern is for free and you can find it here.

I use some old linen/cotton yarn from my stash, but I'm sure it'll turn out even better in alpaca.

Folkestad

Unnselig og liten, men nydelig, bildet er feil vei, men det spiller ingen rolle. Vi var ute og jobba i hagen hele helga. Lørdag hadde vi 23 grader, skuldran blei veldige røde :)

Flowers from our garden. It's a beautiful place. The weather was lovely and we managed to do nearly everything as planned, but a weekend is a bit short.

Going to Folkestad

Lately there hasn't been any knitting or blogging. We have been busy helping my eldest son and fiancee to get their kitchen painted etc. I have finished some more dishcloths and the second Paradoxical mitten. I will post it later. But Thursday we will go to Folkestad to visit my in-laws and I hope I will be able to do some knitting and new projects.

The weather today is terrible and I really hope for better weather in "Vestlandet".

Det har vært travelt i det siste, lite strikking og blogging, men har strikka ferdig flere kopptue og den andre votten i PM. No drar vi til Folkestad, til gården mannen min har overtatt, men det viktigste er besøket hos svigerforeldrene mine. Da burde det bli tid til strikking; har så lyst på nokka nytt!!

Middag og kaker/Dinner and cakes

Kvæfjordkake, også kalt "verden beste" og deilig ostekake!

We had my two sons with partners for dinner. Delicious food and greate cakes which my daughter -in-law to-be had made. The food was untraditional for us, we usually have salmon or trout, but to make everyone happy, we made lime chicken with a hot salsa salad and fried rice with spices. They are not very happy about having their photos taken and put in my blog so here are the cakes and a detail from the decoration.

17.mai HURRA!

Today is our constitutional day, it's freesing cold, and we had snow during the parade. We (those who are that lucky) are carrying our National Costumes and waving the flag while we sing and shout "hurra". It's a lovely day.
The National costumes in the picture are from this region, they are called "nordlandsbunad" and they come in blue and green.

Frys-i-hjel-dagen 2008, ullkledd fra innerst til ytterst! Men vi sto han av. Marsjering, kafebesøk med obligatorisk kaffe og kake, i år ispedd et internasjonalt innslag; empanada fra en bod i stedet for pølse med brød,- jammi :)

Tromsø in May

When I woke up this morning this was the view from my bedroom window. It had been snowing all night long. The next photo is from my veranda showing people in the street, having dressed in winter clothing once again before adventuring out. Last weekend we enjoyed the sun and getting a tan. The saying is that you can have all seasons in one day!
